The primary responsibility of the men of B Division is the operation and maintenance of the ship's four "M" type boilers and associated fireroom machinery.  The steam produced is the power source for the Oklahoma City's 100,000 horsepower main propulsion plant, her four 750-kilowatt turbogenerators, fresh water distilling plants, galley, laundry and all other steam driven machinery.
B Division is also responsible for the storage and transfer of fuel oil, fresh water and boiler feed water.
