The mission of the Navigation Department is to provide for the safe and effective navigation of the ship.  The tasks of the Navigation Department include the continual and accurate plotting of the ship's course and position, recommending courses to steer, and the procurement and maintenance of navigational charts, publications and equipment.

Navigation underway maintains a plot watch - keeping close tabs on the Oklahoma Cuty's position, course and speed - and keeps a chronological record of events occuring during each watch.

In port the Navigation Department is responsible for all honors and ceremonies from the quarterdeck and maintains a 24-hour from the quarterdeck.
