The Sales and Service Division exists
to serve the crew. The men of the division take pride in their job
and continually strive to give the best possible service whether they are
laundering a shirt or selling a stero radio.
S-3 Division is charged with operating three ship's stores, a laundry adn
a dry cleaning and tailor shop. The crew can find everything from
saap to French perfume in the ship's store. All their everyday needs
are available her as well as a large number of luxury items.
The Soda Fountain is designed to satisfy the crew's sweet tooth. Ice
cream, candy and tobacco products of every description are avialable night
and day at this busy outlet. The clothing and small store is
the suplier of uniforms and insignia.
Cleaning the uniforms and personal clothing of 1,300 officers and men is a
full-time business. The ship's laundry opertes on a 24-hour routine,
six days a week, washing 42,000 pounds of clothing per week and pressing
over 1,000 shirts.
